fiber arts : mending : red hoodie elbow darn
This was my first real project using the Swift Darning Loom. I had poorly patched a small hole in a sock the night before. I wasn't happy with the result of the sock darn, so I watched another tutorial on the darning loom and felt more comfortable moving forward (having identified some of my mistakes). I have owned this red hoodie for maybe 10 years. I have not worn it in around 4 due to a ~2" diameter hole in the left elbow. I just felt like I looked sloppy going out and about with that big a hole. So it has been in my closet for a long while. This seemed a good project. I was used to not wearing the hoodie, so there would be no great loss if it didn't go well. Unlike the sock, I used multiple colors for this: one for the warp and two for the weft (mostly because I ran out of the color I started the weft with). It is not absolutely perfect. It pulls a little bit at the surrounding fabric. I suppose I'll get better at preventing that sort of thing. It was a pretty big patch and I am really happy with it. I wore the hoddie for most of the day today. The patch feels fine, looks super cool, and just makes me really happy.
