food : red tofu and green onions

Using red lentil tofu we can make a simple and delicious dish with a few basic veggies. After all, what good is it to be able to make a "tofu" if you don't have something to do with it.


Amount Measure Ingredient
1BlockRed lentil tofu, cubed
6–8Green onions, large chop (1"–2" pieces)
3CloveGarlic, minced to paste
20GramGinger, finely julienned
1Jalapeno, thinly sliced (rings)
2TbspSoy sauce
1TbspRice vinegar
1tspSesame oil
1–2TbspNeutral oil, olive works
2TbspCilantro, chopped
Sesame seeds, to taste


  1. Air fry the cubes of red tofu. Our toaster-oven/air-fryer works well at 425°F for 18 minutes, but it is funky and your mileage may vary. You could, alternately, pan fry them in a little oil until crisp
  2. While the red tofu is air frying combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sugar. Whisk together until well combined
  3. Once the red tofu is done air frying heat up a pan on medium-high heat and add the neutral oil
  4. Once the oil is hot add the green onion, ginger, and garlic
  5. When the garlic starts to smell fragrant add the liquid mixture that you prepared earlier
  6. Add the jalapeno and the red tofu, saute/toss a bit to combine well
  7. Take off of heat and put into a serving bowl, top with cilantro and sesame seads
  8. Serve over rice, with noodles, etc.
