Notes & Thoughts

For a year or two my wife and I did a thing where we gave a homemade gift for each other's birthday. She is a writer, and so wrote me story. I recorded 1987 as a birthday gift. I had not worked on any music in a long time. I know she hoped I would get back into it and it would be a great thing in my life. That hasn't quite happened, but I did do this one recording (I would like to get back to music at some point, it just hasn't fit with this phase of my life as well as it did in my twenties and early thirties). After getting the basics down, I thought it would be fun to have her hum/sing a bit on it, which she did (though I don't know if she found it more fun or more stressful).

My friend Nate, who playd with me in Glider and was a roommate for a time, had just started a record label to put out a lot of his electronic music. I can't remember who suggested releasing this song, but he did three remixes and released it as a single. I am really happy with his mixes, in particular the first one, Ambient Memories Remix. There had been some talk of releasing more of my stuff through his label, but we never managed to make it happen.
