Notes & Thoughts
I had gotten really into the idea of stripped back music at this point. I wanted to just play songs into a microphone and sing. So that is what I did. You can here the birds outside of my apartment in the background on some tracks. I did a small bit of overdubbing, but not nearly the wall of effects pedals and layers I would have done previously. I also really tried to work on having better, more meaningful (to me), lyrics for this EP.
My friend Sammy let me pick from some of her art, and I think the cover turned out great. She also did some backing vocals for me when I visited her in Long Beach. I later helped her record some of her songs.
Wolves has been available digitally from the beginning, but my big thing for this release was the 7" record release. I had discovered lathe cut records and released one already (The Hunters [single]), and felt like these stripped down songs would be perfect for a lathe cut. The folks at Audio Geography did a great job on both of the lathe cuts I sent their way and I am really pleased with the results.
